Assignment 3A - My Entrepreneurship Story

I think my true entrepreneurship story has to do with my education. Our professor identified entrepreneurs as people who solve problems. I had a problem- People around me who were working less than me were getting the promotions that I wanted. I was being passed up because of my lack of education. I was in year 6 of a "semester off", and finally had my "ah-ha!" moment. I needed to get my backside back in school. That was the only thing separating me from the competition. they had the credentials, and if I wanted to get to the next level I needed one.

That's exactly what I did in 2015. I was halfway done with my AA, and finally had the fuel and drive to power through and get it done. I never, ever thought that I would ever be able to be a student at UF, but here I am. I took heavy course loads each semester and worked long hours and many late nights. I finished my AA last semester, and got accepted to UF in the same semester.

I think that wakeup also had implications at work, as I made a transfer to a different department, and got put on a great team. I have excelled all while taking a full course load to finish my AA. You have to go after what you want in life, and I wanted to finish my Bachelor's degree.

Go Gators.

  1. Hi James, I like the different approach that you took to your entrepreneurship story. Your story shows that you don’t necessarily have to make a product or invention to be an entrepreneur. Going out in every-day life and solving the little problems to make the world around us better is the true mark of an entrepreneur. Thank you for sharing your story!
